Ongoing Mental Health Support in Irvine, CA
You've already done meaningful work in therapy. You've gained perspective, learned how to handle difficult situations, and reached a point where regular appointments no longer feel necessary.
But life doesn't stop presenting challenges.
Maybe the holidays are approaching, and you're anticipating a difficult family gathering. Certain conversations have been stressful in the past, and you'd appreciate a chance to talk through how to handle them.
You don't necessarily need to return to therapy. You want to check in with someone who understands your history and can offer support.
Ongoing mental health support in Irvine, CA provides that connection through Mental Health Continuity Care (MHCC). This membership-based service allows you to stay connected with a therapist who knows your story, without committing to weekly therapy sessions. I offer MHCC through my Irvine practice, with eligible services also available remotely throughout California.
Why would you want mental health support after finishing therapy?
Completing therapy doesn't mean you'll never want professional support again. You may be managing most situations independently while still appreciating a familiar perspective from time to time.
Perhaps you're preparing for a conversation with a family member who has historically been difficult to communicate with. You're not looking to revisit your entire family history. You simply want to talk through the situation before it happens.
Or something unexpected comes up at work, and you'd appreciate a brief conversation with someone who understands how you've handled similar challenges before.
These moments don't always call for another full therapy session. A short check-in can give you room to talk things through, consider your options, and approach the situation with greater clarity.
What does Mental Health Continuity Care actually provide?
Mental Health Continuity Care is designed to make ongoing professional support accessible without requiring a traditional weekly appointment schedule.
Instead of starting over whenever something comes up, you maintain an established relationship with a clinician who understands your background.
MHCC offers several ways to stay connected:
Secure messaging
Reach out when you have a question, want to share something, or need a brief check-in.
Short phone consultations
Schedule a 15- to 20-minute conversation when a full therapy session isn't necessary.
Priority scheduling
Receive priority access to longer appointments when additional support is appropriate.
Flexible contact
Stay connected during periods when you're doing well and don't need frequent conversations.
Annual wellbeing reviews
Set aside time to review how things are going and whether your support needs have changed.
Care coordination
With your permission, I can communicate with other healthcare providers when appropriate.
The purpose isn't to keep you in therapy indefinitely. It's to preserve a professional relationship you can turn to as life unfolds.
How can MHCC help during everyday situations?
Consider the holiday season.
You may have spent years learning how to navigate complicated family relationships. You're generally doing well, but an upcoming gathering raises a familiar concern.
A relative tends to make uncomfortable comments. You're wondering whether to address the situation, let it go, or approach the conversation differently.
With MHCC, you can reach out to a therapist who already understands the family dynamics. You don't need to spend an entire appointment explaining who's involved or why the relationship has been difficult.
The same principle applies to a stressful work decision, an unexpected disagreement with your partner, or a change in family responsibilities. You might appreciate professional input without needing another course of treatment.
How is MHCC different from traditional therapy?
Traditional therapy involves structured clinical work. You might attend regular appointments to address ongoing emotional difficulties, process experiences, or work toward specific treatment goals.
Individual therapy in Irvine provides that dedicated treatment when it's needed.
Mental Health Continuity Care serves a different purpose. MHCC is about support, not restarting the therapeutic process.
You may already understand your emotional patterns and feel comfortable handling most challenges. What you value is having access to someone who knows you when a situation calls for another perspective.
If your needs change and more structured treatment becomes appropriate, we can discuss that separately.
Who is Mental Health Continuity Care right for?
MHCC may be appropriate if you've previously benefited from therapy, feel relatively stable, and want a continued relationship with a trusted mental health professional.
You might appreciate this approach if you no longer need weekly sessions but occasionally want to talk through personal decisions, family situations, or unexpected stressors.
Existing clients can transition into MHCC when appropriate. New clients can also join after completing an initial assessment process, which gives us an opportunity to establish a relationship and determine whether the program fits their needs.
Common questions about ongoing mental health support
Can I reach out whenever something comes up?
Yes. MHCC members can send messages through approved secure channels. My goal is to respond within 24 hours or the next business day, often sooner. However, MHCC does not provide guaranteed immediate responses or emergency coverage.
How much does Mental Health Continuity Care cost?
Individual membership costs $295 per month, with a one-time enrollment and assessment fee of $395. Couples membership is also available for $395 per month, with a $495 enrollment and assessment fee.
MHCC is not billed to insurance, and reimbursement is unlikely.
What happens if I need regular therapy again?
If you begin experiencing difficulties that require more structured treatment, we can discuss adding therapy sessions or arranging an appropriate referral. MHCC is not a substitute for crisis intervention or emergency mental health care. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
